"Bless the Bride" known as the fringe of all times. Always a success with its beautiful songs and lovely story. It was first produced at the Adelphi Theatre in London 1947 where it had 886 performances.

The story is about Lucy, the eldest of 7 sisters in the Willow family. She is about to marry Thomas Trout. But will Thomas Trout ever learn to do the right thing? On the very eve of his wedding to Lucy Willow he introduces to the home of her strictly Victorian parents an actor and actress. To his horror Augustus Willow discovers that, not only do they belong to that notorious profession, but they hail from France - land of dreadful moral laxity, where women display their ankles, and tennis is played! His worst fears are realized when Lucy elopes with the dashing Pierre. Yoicks, tally-ho and the hunt is on, to France where the staid Victorians are nearly arrested as spies on the eve of the Franco-Prussian war. When Pierre - reported killed in the fighting - makes an unexpected return, Thomas at last has his chance to Do the Right Thing.

Jack played the dashing Pierre who swept young Lucy off her feet. The show got amazing reviews at the Kings Head, and it also starred Judy Campbell as "old Lucy". Judy is the famous mother of the also famous actress Jane Birkin.
